I'm looking to ditch Sky. I already have a Chromecast for one TV in our house and I was planning to buy a second but it occurred to me that rather than buying a Chromecast for Plex and Netflix as well as a Freeview satellite decoder there might be an alternative that can do both. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks.

Can you clarify what it is exactly that you're after? Your question is a bit vague.

So you’re after a satellite decoder that also has smart apps? As far as I know only some of the Samsung TVs can do this. Ir have a dvb-t tuner for free view hd, but also a satellite tuner for those on DVb-s. And their usual stable of smart apps.

The only other options would be to look at using internet for tv.

Maybe something like this. Android TV Box. UHF and SAT tuners plus install whatever Apps you fancy.

We've just moved in to a new house with no satellite or tv aerial - just a fibre connection.

I am using Raspberry Pi's with Kodi for local content and then added Huisman's TVNZ and TV3 kodi add-ons. Gives your TV1, TV2, TV3, Duke, Edge TV. Fine for what we watch.

Then just Chromecasts for Youtube and Spotify.

All totally depends on what you want. Take a look at the 100 other threads on here about ditching Sky - search is in the top nav bar.
