The current HD standards are very old compared to what you'd think they were, cant find an exact date but when i read it i was suprised.
This will take easily 10-15 years for it to be broadcast at this resolution (as a guess).

Technology marches on. I'm not surprised by the push to advance HDTV really. Scientists have estimated that human vision operates in the Gigabit realm.
