There were multiple lightning strikes in the Hutt Valley during the thunderstorm. It's certainly not possible to rule out damage to your TV and/or amp as a result of the thunderstorm.

Thanks for this... however I am not in HV but in the Kelburn area.  I imagine it is possible that there were lightning strikes in this area as well, although I don't remember a thunderstorm...

I guess I will need an installer to try swapping out the amp and verifying the aerial's orientation.  If neither of those solves the issue, it may well be an issue with the TV.

Maybe the transmission power from the site is down in level (damage to aerials or transmitter)?
Only people in hi signal strength areas able to receive anything.

Well for once facebook has proved to be useful. Theres was quite a bit of chat about people not getting a tv signal last night. Some started getting signal back again after 9.30pm. I checked mine before I left this am and I still had no signal

Yes, I'm pretty sure the transmission strength is lower than it was before Monday. We're now only able to receive the MTS mux with Maori TV and Te Reo, and there seem to be other people on the freeview forum reporting similar problems around central Wellington

Just left Tinakori Rd, I can confirm there is an issue, signal levels are reasonable but no quality.
I suspect it’s only one panel as no reports from the Hutt area.
I’ll see what I can find out .

I am in Thorndon, and all 28 channels are coming in loud and clear still.

In Thorndon (Aorangi Terrace) and UHF antenna pointed at Fitherbert across the harbour … must be about 4 or 5km as crow flies?

Cannot see Kaukau due to great big hill across the road <g>.

I'd measure it but the Jeep can't handle water that deep undecided

PS  Quite right, just did a Google map point-to-point and almost exactly 15km.
