Hi.

Has anyone tried using this?!?

http://www.arcsoft.com/public/software_title.asp?ProductID=15

I downloaded the demo version and was very impressed with the UI (best I've seen outside of WMC)

problem is -no audio.

It tuned the channels fine, and the setup with very easy, but no sound.  I was very dissapopinted, because I really liked it, and I also note it had New Zealand in it's list of setup countries, so was pretty confident I'd found a winner..

I also read in a press release that it supports HE-ACC...

Anyway, I don't think anyone has ever metnioned this product in the forums, so I thought I'd provide the link.

Cheers

Yes, I thought the free trail installed too much stuff.  But it did decode freeview very nicely, i couldn't getthe sound going.

thanks, but it's not the same thing.

They are talking about the H.264 codec you get with Arcsoft TotalMedia.

TotalMedia 3.5 is an actual PVR application with DVB-T tuning capabilities.

I was just curious as to whether anyone got it working with sound.

Since I purchased TotalMedia Theatre (A completely different application for playing Hi def content such as BluRay) I'll register on their website and send them a query about the "no sound" issue for their PVR app.  It would be great if they sorted it out for use on the NZ market..

I was under the impression that everybody was installing the full trial suite in order to get the codec.  In any case the reports of the experiences of the h.264 codec and hardware acceleration versus cyberlink et al are valid when talking about either the suite, or the codec

I can confirm this.

Have done the same thing and got the same result.  Note I had to install coreavc to ensure I got video playback in WMP.

I suspect tis is a limitation of the demo, and have posted a query on their support forum.

May have solved sound problem
Installed aac codec and 3vix.  On the task bar click on the MTS icon ( nect to Capture frame) and change audio to audio 2.  Needs to be done for each channel change.  Works for me.  May work witthout aac codec or 3vix as I have just found this out by fooling around

further to last post
The MTS icon on the task bar only appears on Channel 1 and Three. radio channels work.

I have noticed a huge improvement in the quality since changing to Audio 2 No more shudders in fast moving activities.

is "audio2" a non HE-AAC audio track that is being broadcast along with audio1 - e.g. DTS or Dolby Digital?

Nice work Gulfa!

Regs, correct.  What Gulfa has discovered is the mechanism for switching to the AC3 audio track (available only for TV1 and 3).

So it is now reasonable to assume that TotalMedia 3.5 does not support AAC -but it does support AC3.

Have you heard from Arcsoft or made any findings on the sound issues
Cheers

Sorry -no one replied to my question in their user support forums:

http://www.arcsoft.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=857

However, I am somewhat convinced that there is currently no HE-AAC support so I have uninstalled the product.

Infact I've settled on MediaPortal and after spending a few days learning all it's features (there are lots!) I have to say I don't need anything else.  I recommend you give it a go.  There is definately a bit of a learning curve, but it is worth it (IMHO)

Of special note it offers

1) EPG using XML -via revens xmltvnz application http://www.reven.co.nz/ which works great.
2) Streaming over my network (for some reason had trouble with this, but works flawlessly now)
3) A great range of skins
4) Good support of both WMC and Hauppuagge remotes

As a previous user of XBMC, I'm glad they kept this amazign open source project going with Media Portal.

I should mention, my ATI HD3850 AGP/ e4700 CD2 are both doing a fine job handling H.264 -and wirelessly as well! (802.11n)

ps. I'm using the arcsoft decoder on all my systems..
