The specifics of the EPG I am cannot comment on, but I have been using the EPG that Sky broadcasts at the moment to record/view Prime through a Sky STB and analogue card for several months now.

Yes it is a simple as that!
As geek4me has mentioned, you can already tune into TV1 and TV2 off the Sky transponder as these channels are unencrypted. For a while this was the way to get a fairly decent TV1 and TV2 while TVNZ d!cked around with their brilliant 5 simultaneous feeds of TV1 concept.

There's no reason (other than commercial) why SKY can't do this. Especially as it's a 'free to air channel' and all.

The only potential hickup is with the official boxes which would need an over the air update probably to include channels off a currently non freeview transponder. I'm assuming this could be done, otherwise you'd need an unofficial sat box to allow you to tune in, which is still fine by me.

They put in a new Burger Fuel just 5 minutes drive from my house in Auckland, great for me but if you live in the country you "get shafted" because you have to drive 40 minutes. It's disgusting!

When should we expect to hear it officially confirmed that Prime is going onto Freeview?

yeah thats what i got now too after a rescan.  also lost the SBS channels, but i think its due to bad weather here, signal might not be strong enough compared to the regular channels.

I should probably add for those that don't see the significants of it that the Prime xml did not exist on Wednesday the 12th so it is a very new development.

Wow, exciting stuff!
Assume it is Sat freeview that the tv listing applies to?
There were some test channels earlier on on the UHF service, have they reappeared with a test picture?
Cheers.

No that feed is what's used by Freeview HD (probably also used by Sat). The reason I say Freeview|HD is cos it has an HD tag, which on some tv3/tv2 programs is set to Y
