when channel c42 was added earlier this year it appeared at the bottom, after the audio only channels, with out a full scan. A full scan just changed the order c42 appeared.

The Warehouse has PlayTV advertised at $167 in their latest advertisement.

Just to make sure I have this right. My system prompted me for an update to PlayTV which I downloaded and installed. But to get the full epg you have to buy that feature from the Store?

Unfortunately my Playstation Store account is in the US since I bought my PS3 there and created the account before there was a local one and haven't changed it. I didn't see any PlayTV updates there for sale which isn't surprising given PlayTV isn't sold in the US so I guess I have to create an account on the local store (if indeed I can have two accounts active on one PS3) to get the epg capability.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

Correct. In order to get the full EPG you'll need to purchase the PlayTV pack from the NZ Playstation Store.

You can definitely have more than one account on your PS3. I've got 6 on mine. It should only take a few minutes to create a NZ account, providing that you use a different email address than the one you used for your US account.

Bear in mind that you dont actually get the full EPG at all - only TVNZ channels at this stage :)

Not that's not very useful given I do most of recording from either TV3 or Prime!

Yeah I'm personally not going to "upgrade" as it sounds like the EPG is far from adequate and I would not use any of the other features anyway. Plus I do use the now/next function quite a bit and from what I've heard you lose that to get a "complete" EPG.

And I would have to replace the drive in my PS3 since the 60G is not large enough.

Now if they get the guide fully working and I can work out how to install the FTP server so I can get the content off the PS3 drive onto my PC, then I might be tempted.

I have installed the update and even bought the chat on-line update off the PlayStation store. I don't have any programming guide at all beyond the standard this programme and next programme I always had.  Am I missing something?  I had PlayTV already installed. Do I have to reinstall from scratch?

I like the PlayTv but it does have its infuriating little ways!

You need to go into the settings and do a full channel scan again. Upon doing so you should then be prompt to set up the full "13-day" ;) tvtv EPG listings.

I spoke to FV Shop a couple of days ago and he said that they were trying to get a better deal from Sony as he thought the price was way too high in NZ. Guess they were successful. Wonder if other retailers will do the same deal..??

$160 isn't THAT much better than The Warehouse offering of $167...

Can someone please tell me the difference between buying a local boxed PlayTV for $160/167 vs. importing a UK "Version" for $90?

I understand many people have been using imported Play TVs for months now - is it still better to import the cheaper unit from overseas?

No it's not, especially once you put shipping on top of it?

I can try...

No difference hardware wise.

NZ version comes with $15 upgrade included in the pack so you can get the TVTV EPG that isn't working at the moment on all channels. (Pretty sure this is the deal?)

So if you buy it for $90 from UK you'll have to pay $15 extra to download the EPG pack, if you want to.

Apart from that the extra $60 or so is profit for the seller, guaranteeing you get it quickly and NZ support in case your box is faulty.
