I saw PlayTV for $115 I think it was in the recent Harvey Norman catalogue.

Freeviewshop.co.nz no longer appears to be listing this.

Does anyone know when this TV3/FOUR/Mediaworks EPG issue is going to be sorted?
When PlayTV officially came out in NZ, the initial word was that the EPG listings for Mediaworks would be sorted out soon.
As far as I can tell, nothing has happened, and we are still left with Now/Next to about 3 listings ahead.

Come on Mediaworks, it's time to buck up.

Yes $115 the cheapest place you can buy one as far as I can tell.

Without sounding too negative the EPG was essentially the only thing ever holding back PlayTV from being released here.  Given the hassles the likes of TIVO have had with trying to get access to any non freeview MHEG5 EPG, I can't see it being sorted any time soon sorry.  They went to market with an internet updateable EPG that had limited support from TV companies and you the customer are paying for this decision.

The only way this is likely to work in NZ is for the PlayTV software to launch the official MHEG5 EPG for that part of it only.  This is what magic TV boxes do, where it's their own software and feel for the menus, but they jump to the official guide for that part of it.

That's the base EIT data, which is all freeview choose to broadcast on this system.  In all the other markets PlayTV has been released there has been a full guide of EIT data broadcast and available for PlayTV to fill the EPG.
