Hi all

Just curious why do there seem to be no TVs with satellite decoders built in, surely there must be some demand

They are available but nobody imports any into NZ that I'm aware of.

You have to factor in that 75% of the population is within Freeview|HD coverage and that will be extended at 87% before analogue shut off. Since satellite is really only designed as a solution for those outside the Freeview|HD coverage area that's not a big market.

I know of one who was bringing them in but only smaller TV sizes though.
Kinda a cool idea, the equivalent to the "freeview decoder built in" you see for the HD type in stores.

So yeah, they exist, but as sbiddle says, not exactly a high seller really.
