yes that has crossed my mind too, almost as if it skips the first showing, thinking you are after the repeat instead.....

Oh well, I bought one so we'll see how it goes. Hopefully it's pretty trouble free. PlayTV was getting on our nerves.

you'll be right. i've had next to no issues with mine and for the price you can't go too far wrong.

Cheers butlerboy, and whoever bumped this thread. I had already purchased it before I saw this, but I get the post purchase blues sometimes, so its nice to know that I didn't buy a dud.

you definitly didn't buy a dud. mine has been pretty rock solid for the 6 months i've had it and i have no problems recommending it to anyone on my experiences with it. (i've probably just jinxed myself)
also, once you've got it go and have a play with the zinwell pvr and you'll notice that the menu's, remote, physical size and instructions are identical. the only thing that is different is the face plate and the jc matthews has a larger hdd. re badging at its finest. check out this link:

hmmm, maybe this is why they are being sold so cheaply on 1-day, cos JC Matthew know there is a problem???? I do hope not!

very interesting - I was watching tv one so decided to check the recording list to see what it had down, and 24 was set, but set to record the repeat next week (later thurs or whenever it is). So I went into the EPG and deleted it and set it again, but after 3 attempts I could not get it to show that it was going to record last nights show (tried both one off record and series). I had also previously re-set my defaults to make sure there were no issues.

So then I thought that there was one more thing I could try - I switched channels to C4 and loaded the EPG there and the recording set properly then! Kind of like the EPG loaded whilst watching TV one was incorrect for c4 and not up to date, and the act of loading it whilst on the correct channel fixed the problem!

So I now have an answer, but it really should not work like this.....

just confirming that 'the pacific' repeat recorded last night for me. so it looks as though the box is somehow getting confused and skipping the initial showing and recording the repeat showing of the programme if there is one in the same week.

Hey butlerboy did "the pacific" record for you last night? It didn't work for me, despite being listed in the record list to start at 8.30pm, it didn't start and my wife had to record it manually for me. It did however record the repeat on sunday night with no problems!!

sounds like the jc matthews isn't the only box having an issue or two though
