That sucks Frown can you check the capacitors for signs of bulging?  Bulging capacitors cause modems and switches to drop connections so maybe its a similar case for the receiver.

Still haven't heard anything back from 1-day. I sent a follow-up email yesterday and received no reply. If I haven't received anything of any value within the next week, I will tell them to forget the fix and demand a refund. As we have been sold goods that are defective and of unacceptable quality, we are all entitled to a refund under the consumer guarantees act.

http://www.consumer.org.nz/reports/consumer-guarantees-act

It's honestly not worth the bother.

Hey guys, glad I found my thread, too bad it was after spending $30 on a new aerial thinking it was a reception problem. After changing the country setting to "england" it found all channels the first time and so far seems to be running fine, no crashing, in sync, but haven't tested the pvr function yet.

I just emailed 1-day again about the lack of communication and recived this:

Hi people,

Thank you for your patience regarding the issues with the Magnavox Digital Set Top Box.

As we are still waiting for a software fix for the issues that you are experiencing, we have decided to provide you with a couple of options.

A)     Send the item back for a full refund (see attached forms for return)

B)      Continue to wait for a fix that our supplier is currently working on. At this stage we aren’t expecting this to be available until late next week

If you wish to take up the option A) of return and refund please fill in the word document Courier Post Freight Forward Form.doc and return via email. We will then have a courier pick this item up from you. The other attached form Returns Form (NZ).doc needs to be filled in and attached to the Magnavox Digital Set Top Box so when we receive this back from the courier we know its from you. If you do not have a printer please make sure you have your details such as name, email address, contact number and order # if possible attached to the item being pick up.

We realise this has not be an ideal experience for you and we apologise for any inconvenience we may have caused.

Team @1-day

Guess I spoke a bit too soon! It was running fine until I decided to test the PVR, it recorded fine to a 1tb external usb drive for about 3-5mins and the video seems to playback fine on my pc, but now its started crashing when watching TV. On reset it doesn't find a signal, so I have to power it off and back on, I find if you don't change the channel within 30secs it will crash again, but if you change channels and come back to the one you were watching it will work for 30mins-2hours before crashing again.

I am in the same boat - no country setting seems to pick up TV signals.  Anyone got some ideas for Christchurch users? Thanks.

The way I figured out the correct frequency was to look at what the manual channel frequency options were, and then ensure the country selected matched what the local frequencies are (in the case of at least Auckland - England), I am not sure what frequency the channels are in Chch, but if they are the same steppings as Auckland then it should be working on the England setting.
