Jaxson:
bazzer: I've told you how to resolve it, have you tried that?

At 7.30pm on Monday I tried taking the series off series link in the EPG.  This then took away the S next to the item in the EPG.  I then re booked it and it got the S back next to it.

That's 2 hours our from starting so surely that's close enough to work.

It only seems to be an issue on the shows with encore episodes.  I went to watch some TV last night and found Hawaii 50 had recorded, just a week later.  Some of the encore shows had even, get this, recorded an week later but on the TV3+1 channel so no HD or 5.1, AND obviously they didn't record the first/main instance of the show either.  Awesome.

Actually I believe the magicTV box does do the signal sharing to record the buffer to both files.  Could be wrong on that one, but hopefully someone with a magic box can share a little light on that?

You can always tell if it's going to work, because the recording shifts from the encore to the first screening.  I don't know the exact timeframe (I would assume 7.30pm would have been ok) but at some stage the actual listing in the record list will move.  After that is when you need to do it.  Always check the recording list.  What a hassle though!

I've had TV3+1 record once, and that sucked.  I might guess the reason is because there were too many programs scheduled at the time of the encore (which would not have been picked up at booking time because the original time is different).

Yeah all good points man.
I've heard nothing back from JC Matthew or freeview, so that's all gone quiet.

I can assure you there wasn't much recording action going on at 12.30am whent that even later TV3+1 encore showed.

Ah sht, add another problem to the mix....

I thought it was a one off a few weeks back, but last night my unit didn't stop recording Grand Designs and Top Gear until I happened to wonder why it was still on at like 10:30pm.

Jaxson: Almighty Johnsons started and ended perfectly for me last night.

I'm pretty sure Hawaii 5-0 went OK for me last week and I have been too busy to look into updating the firmware etc.  This matches my recollection that when this problem originally occurred it eventually appeared to fix itself (without any intervention on my box) which led me to believe it was on the Freeview side.  Who knows?  I'll be checking my recordings this week...

As for your other issue with recordings continuing, I have the same issue with Letterman quite often.  I get 6 hours recorded which is a real pain when you want to use the number buttons to skip to a later part because only "1" is any use and that takes you to 36 minutes in.  Also, annoying if I'm running out of space (luckily it's Prime so doesn't use heaps).

Nah you know what I've decided is the most annoying thing?

The fact that 'Time' is written in red on the front. I have a frosted glass front on my cabinet and I end up checking to see if it's recording something only to find it's just displaying the clock with a red label in case I can't work out that it's actually the time...

Sometimes the fast forward is heavily pixelated but I suspect now that might be a recording one or two things at the same time as playing back another sort of thing.

The lotto record issue hasn't been fixed for me, still only get 2/3rds of idol on a Saturday.

Ditto, but we've decided we don't really need to watch the Saturday show that badly ;)
