Yes both One and TV2. Obviously no true 5.1 at this time of the day, just 2.1 in the 5.1 wrapper. Wonder how much true 5.1 stuff they will have to showoff.

I just grabbed the Freeview MHEG5 EPG and they haven't formatted the Dolby Digital logo against any of the TV1/TV2 programmes.  But it's certainly good news.

Hallelujah!!

DD5.1 down here in Dunners! Yay!

The audio doesn't seem as "bright" as TV3, but it's still light-years ahead of AAC-HE.
In fact, TV2 with Neighbours at the moment still sounds decidedly flat and dull, but it's still AC3. It sorta sounds like AAC-HE remuxed into AC3.

EDIT: TV One sounds fine.

Fringe tonight on TV2 will be a good test.

That's gonna be the test.

A bit like you can't take a crap MP3, write it to a CD and call it great again cos you've squished it into a new format.

Definitely a step in the right direction, but like TV3 I'll probably only switch to it for actual DD 5.1 source material.

Chuck was plain ol' 2.0

Fringe probably will be too.

Yeah they have the capability finally, now they just have to buy the product with 5.1 audio.

As previously mentioned, TV One Dolby Digital audio is crystal clear.
However, TV2 Dolby Digital audio just sounds like a lackluster 64kbps internet radio stream. THB, it's worse than the AAC-HE stream.
Fringe last night just sounded dull and lifeless, and it's the same with whatever infomercials are playing at the moment.

Is anyone else hearing what I'm hearing, or is it just me?

Yes I did notice that as well, at the moment TV3 is by far the best thought TV1 did not sound that great either Just hope TVNZ get their act together and start broadcasting more stuff in HD in particular movies....TV3 are totally the winners at the moment...
