Can you give us an overview of what the "Freeview Organization" does and is responsible for.
Does Freeview have any influence over the broadcasters. I guess the horse has already bolted but if Freeview is a kind of governing body then it could have minimum standards that broadcasters must meet. For example:
- SD channel must meet video/audio bitrate x
- HD channel must meet video/audio bitrate x
- Channel must have x video bitrate, x audio bitrate and x number of audio channels to be called an HD channel on the Freeview platform and advertised as such. "Freeview Certified HD Channel" if you like.
Some simple standards/guidelines like this could ensure the consumer gets a quality product. Does Freeview have any interest in this or do they exist solely for the benefit of the broadcasters and their profits?
(That's an honest question, not being flippant or facetious)
