It is nearly the end of June, do you know if there is an exact date yet for broadcasting to start?

Also would I be able to pick up Freeview using an indoor vhf/uhf antenna or will I have to connect to aerial on roof. Thinking of bedrooms etc where it'snot always convenient or possible to connect to outside aerials

Thanks for the update!
Been waiting for awhile. I still don't think it will entice me away from sky.

Oddly TV transmission systems aren't actually designed for your convenience. My guess is that if you are within 5 km of said transmitter you may get indoor reception but I could be way off with. If you can't see the transmitter if you walk outside you obviously have no hope given its low power.

I was nearly that close to Forest Hill growing up, but that not going to help me now lol. Guess I will have to spend my time trolling Geekzone instead of watching tv then

I'm glad someone from down here has finally posted some pics and given some info.

I can tell you now that JDA has told me that it will be by the end of June but, of course, if s*** happens then there may be the odd delay.

And in regards to signal testing I picked up the channels this evening on UHF 32, 34 and 36 very briefly so those signals could be up permanently any day now.

The only issue I have with them installing the transmitter @ Forest Hill is that areas like Wyndham and Otautau miss out entirely. I just don't understand why they couldn't have installed it at Hedgehope and even one of my friends on Facebook by the name of Andrew Joll posted a blog detailing why it would have been better for it to be at Hedgehope.

As far as to getting it with an inside aerial don’t know yet, I would be saying no as I cant with the coat hanger on my TV, its get 10 bars with my roof aerial and only one bar with the old sky aerial inside the house looking out a window. :)

My understanding is that it basically came down to $$$, Culture and Heritage wanted the most coverage for the least amount of $$ spent for the entire nation wide digital expansion.

Using alternative sites (JDA) may save enough money to allow an whole additional town to be added to the rollout,  So yes you lose some coverage, but you make up for it with more coverage in other new areas. -but it still doesn't help the people who on the outskirts.

Hope its a metal coat hanger and not a plastic one you're using :) Guess I'll be putting holes in walls for cables then.

Should be before the 30th but glitches can always occur which will then delay any planned launch.

I would assume, and don't quote me on this, that it most likely might be Sunday or Monday at best.

But, of course, we'll all find out when we do channel scans I guess.
