So I gave my old Draco HDTV6300 to a digital-less mate who's now complaining that some channels are missing.

Stratos, Parliament Tv and Chinese Tv are gone from the line up.

Tried multiple resets and re-scans to no effect.

What gives ?

Sounds like its not receiving one of the multiplexes properly.
A Multiplex (mux) is used to broadcast a group of channels.
Think of it a bit like the old 'channels' - except one channel will carry a bunch of channels.

There are about 3 muxes used for Freeview HD - The TVNZ based one, the TV3/4 etc - and the others.

Sounds like your mate isnt picking up the 'other' channel.

You can find that sometimes if your signal isnt great you might not pick up one of the muxes properly.

There is a list of frequencies here:

http://www.freeviewshop.co.nz/digital-terrestrial-i-8.html

If you work out where he is you could try a manual tune of the required mux - might be able to work out what the signal is like.

Thanks.

Signal strength is all good.

Cables, connectors etc all good.

The dumb box just stopped receiving those stations.
