I just went to Freeview's website and I noticed two new channels on it.

Channel 31 is TV Rotorua and 32 is Info-Rotorua and there's no mention of it being localized so it looks like we'll be able to get it nationwide.

It's not known yet whether these channels are live or whether they're Freeview HD only channels.

The site now says Rotorua only and indeed I can't pick them up from here (Waikato/Te Aroha transmitter).

It's strange, I get one of those channels in Hamilton.  It's just blank, but says it's full strength signal. (that might be due  an error with my cheap decoder.)

Those two channels popped up in Auckland HD (Waitakeres) on my Zinwell box about a week ago.
They only show when you bring up the 'guide' and arrow up through the stations from memory.
When I tried to select the program is did wierd things to the STB and I had to reboot it - dont think they are actually broadcasting - but the listing shows.

It wasnt showing on the Panasonic TV in the lounge though....

There are also those 6 or so Asian channels that appeared on Freeview a few months back - they are still there - but dont show on the the 'guide' - you have to just use the Channel + button and go past trackside/c33 etc. I think the program info said something like 'voice TV test' - annoyingly the volume is ridiculously louder than the other 'normal' channels.

tvRotorua is a slightly more Rotorua-centric version of tvCentral which is a Waikato/BOP regional TV channel with a "family-safe" focus (owned by Christian folk).

Info-Rotorua / itvlive is the tourist information channel.

They're all run by Television Media Group, are terrestrial only, and should only be accessible in their relevant regions.

The channels won't show up on freeview approved/tivo's outside the local area as the broadcast flag from Te Aroha (for example) is set to not avaliable.....but if you have a cheap non-approved freeview box it most likely will ignore this flag and you will be able to watch those channels ok.
