I received a message asking about web-based booking. Since replying causes "Error: Invalid recipient: PM blocked", I'll have to answer here: Very unlikely - it may be somewhat more feasible if it only allows manual timers, but I guess that's not too useful.

@wklie

Perhaps you can tell me how much better, if any, the forward/reverse & fast forward/fast reverse is between the 3600 & 3700?
Seeing that I will not be able to skip the adverts (unless 2lostkiwis has the answer to that?) on the 3700, if the forward/reverse & fast forward/fast reverse is no better than the 3600, then I would not be buying the 3700.

I did read prior that the forward/reverse & fast forward/fast reverse had been improved on the 3700 but to what extent?
Is it as good as the Panasonic equivalent boxs? I have an old DVD Recorder with built in HDD & analoge tuner. The forward/reverse & fast forward/fast reverse are great.

Thanks

I have a 3700 and find the forward and reverse very poor, it repeats sections it has previously played and jumps about like a demented dervish I am not impressed with it at all.

Totally agree, the ff and rw keys jump around like crazy, it is nearly impossible have the program start from where you stop ff or rw. I also had the 3600 and it had basically the same problem. Wish magic would finally sort this issue out.

Can the Logitech Harmony One universal remote be fully utilised/programmed for use with the MTV3700??

Thanks

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Magic tv 3600 works well with both the Harmony 1000 and 1100.
I believe the Harmony One is the same as an 1100 as far as the programming and functionality is concerned.
From what I have read the MTV 3700 uses the same standard remote as the MTV 3600 so there should be no problem.

Thanks folks. I asked this question as I am returning to NZ after 30 yrs in Australia and have to purchase all new broadcast receiving equipment due to different frequencies in NZ to Aussie.

Even making manual timers over the web on the receiver would be a handy feature. making sure we don't miss out on those important TV shows :D

#i tried to hack the 3700 by referencing the MTV4000 Australia firmware.
#it enabled +30/-8 seconds skips,and 1-9 minute jumps by pressing 1-9 buttons.to do backward minute,rewind then press 1-9.
#green left/right for 5 minute jumps are also restored.

We just moved from the UK, where we got a Vbox XTi 3340 (its on Amazon
 http://www.amazon.co.uk/VBox-Home-Gateway-XTi-3340/dp/B00EDGJPDU/ref=sr_1_4?m=A2SRJI9P8WCL59&s=merchant-items&ie=UTF8&qid=1384959926&sr=1-4)

This unit has 4 configurable tuners to select either DVB-S2 or DVB-T i.e. Freeview - it sends out the content in IP - so all devices can receive the transmission. the coolest thing I liked is that it has iOS app (Android as well) and I can watch it on my iPad. it also merges with my Samsung SmartTV
its a one-off buy out and you can view all free channels on all devices. I just love it.
the built in app also connects you to any online content...
it was really easy to install, just like any other network device. you will find it with a browser on the wireless network, and open its web page to configure.
Great piece of kit.
