Morning,

I have tried to use this USB stick with Media Centre and Media Portal. I saw  some channels last night but couldn't stream them (in WMC) and now i cannot get any signal at all. I have the mini antenna and my house antenna and have tried both for the same result.

Does anyone have experience with this hardware? I would greatly appreciate any help you can give.

If you're still trying with MediaPortal, have you posted your logs somewhere? I'd need them as a starting point. You can easily grab your logs using the watchdog tool:

1. Find the "debug mode" link in the "Team MediaPortal" folder in your start menu and start it.
2. Select option 3 "export all currently present logs".
3. Click proceed. A zip file containing all the relevant information will be created on your desktop.
4. Start a thread on the MP forum and make sure to list your system specs and attach the zip file (instructions for attaching in the watchdog link), else post the zip file here.

PS: I don't have the original CD available so cannot install WinTV7 


You may need the original CD to install the correct drivers.
An up to date CD can be purchased online from Hauppage for US$9.95
I had to do this when I installed my HVR2200 as I didn't have the MCE version of XP and WinTV wouldn't install.
The updated CD worked fine and their service and support is excellent.

There is no error log. The app fails with an IO error because it cannot find it >>

Any other advice?

That's very strange but I'll take your word for it. Try this:

1. Open TV Server configuration.
2. Click on the "open log directory" link in the top left hand corner.
3. Zip up all the files you find there and post them.

To me it looks like a classic network provider problem, but it could also be a signal problem. Try the following:
1. Open TV Server configuration.
2. Expand the "TV Servers" node on the left.
3. Select your TV Server. You should now see the tuner list on the right.
4. Select one of the Nova tuners and click "edit".
5. Select "DVBT" for "preferred network provider" and click "save".
6. Repeat for the other tuner.
7. Rescan for your region.

Got to step 5 now it lists the card type as unknown where it should say DVBT in the list of cards. When i expand my list i cannot choose this card from the list to scan with

Unknown means the card is not detected by TV Server. Do you use standby/sleep on that machine? The T-500 driver is known for taking a long time to resume from sleep and if TV Server attempts to detect cards before the driver is ready then this can happen. Bump up the "delay before TV Server detects cards" in the "general" section of TV Server configuration then restart the PC and see if the same thing is happening. If so, check whether the card is listed in device manager - it is possible that the OS is not picking it up, in which case TV Server hasn't got a hope of picking it up either.

Alright the reboot got the server to see the card and it is now that DVB-T as preferred. It's running a scan for networks right now and it consistently says "No Signal" so there's something still wrong. I know i can get reception here because i can get it working on Ubuntu. I'll upload some more logs.

Hmmm, this is a puzzler. I take it your drivers are up-to-date - these (3_11_29094) seem to be the most recent for the tuner.

i too have this exact same problem but with td500 win7 64 brand new install fist tried installing mediaportal one click  had scanning problem no signal then uninstalled and installed sqlexp way and same result so now not sure what to try also using 2 cards (4 tuners)

What makes you think that - have you tried the other suggestions I posted?

You may well be in for trouble. This isn't the best info source, but Hauppauge have deleted or closed the original thread.

Did you ask for help on the MediaPortal forum? The frequencies may simply have been out of date for your region, which sometimes happens.

was definantly a haupauge driver issue i decided to reformat and install 32bit win 7 and everything went straight forward and yes i tried the othe suggestions if i had of had pcie slot i would have tried a avermedia card i had which does work on my win7 machine i have running mediaportal already did the other person get a positive result on win 7 64

Don't mean to be rude but it is a little difficult to read your post and be sure I've understood correctly when you don't use capital letters, full stops and question marks. In answer to your last phrase (which I think is a question): I have no idea. I've only become aware of this issue with W7 64 bit recently and I haven't been able to find definitive answers as Hauppauge have deleted (or otherwise made unavailable) the original thread discussing the issue. In other words, your guess is as good as mine. Try emailing Hauppauge or searching the internet for other reports related to "hauppauge", "nova" and "bitrate".
