The signal has gone this morning off Optus D1 at around 1115. I miss it already. Anyone else lost it?

Hi Matt. You need a DVB-S2 capable receiver and a well lined up Sky dish. Bit of a gamble though as it may not stay there! Been around a while now though.

These channels were also down (along with SBS) for an hour or 2 one evening about 3 nights ago. These are about the only channels I now watch. (Shame about the amount of ads they play) By the way, are you also finding that the audio level on GEM is lower than the others?

GEM is Dolby only. Level differences will be determined by your box. For me GEM is louder than others...

do you think Australians are able to "hack" into our free-to-air channels????

Can you imagine them getting excited, like we do about "GO!" etc, over something like TV2 or FOUR? lol.

What people have to remember here, is the 9/Gem/Go channels are not being sent out by the broadcaster with the intention of being watched globally.

They are on a south australia/tasmania transponder, that happens to have spill/part of its spot over NZ

They are not high powered, nor focused with the intention of NZ being a target audience (we dont pay them anything for advertising or running costs etc)

The fact they are there, yes, is a bonus. But they will likely never mention to NZ directly why they are comming/going.

If its anything like the live 7 feeds, they are backup link for capacity only. And there to cover remote areas who can't get cable/DTV

Your dish has to be perfectly aligned with skew to grab what signal it can, and as its polarity and transponder differ from the rotation of the NZ freeview ones, can be tricky to obtain both at the same time with 100% hitrate.

This is also the reason the aussies cannot get our channels, as they are on NZ only beams.

Optus use NZB beam for our stuff,
The others are on NANZ

Nine, Gem, Go still down here in Taranaki at 21:49. Thought it was rain fade with heavy cloud but it's been down every time i've checked this evening. Freeview & SBS1 & 2 are ok. 90Cm dish on Hauppague HVR4400 on HTPC.

Regards Allen.
