I heard that Mainland TV is setting up a digital broadcast was just wondering if anyone knows if its active or still in the pipeline and will it broadcast from Mt Campbell Or Takaka Hill ?
Currently testing from Takaka hill 8 channels, very weak though , pointed my aerial towards takaka hill through trees, signal not even marginal, gonna try higher gain aerial and another location
They have been testing 8 channels from both the Observatory hill site in Nelson and Takaka Hill for about a week now. Here in Stoke, Nelson, I can get both transmitters, and like injuised said. signals are currently very weak. But this hopefully will improve has they are still testing. codyc1515: 8 channels is quite a lot but from what I can see its only going to be for the Nelson region which is kind of disappointing.
Mainland TV is a local Nelson TV Station. They packed a lot of stations into their multiplex because they have the capacity! If they are going to spend a lot on getting a DVB-T Transmitter, then why not use it.
Aparently Beacon and Shine were already broadcast by them on Analouge.
Does anyone know if the Mainland's Digital Channels are in 16:9 widescreen?
Yesterday when I retuned I got an extra 16 channels, 13 tv and 3 radio. Maybe Korida are also testing too as in addition to the Mainland channels I also got Stratos, Parliament TV, ChineseTV, tvCentral, TV33, Radio NZ National, Radio NZ Concert and BaseFM.
Here in Richmond the Mainland channels seem to keep moving, some days I have to re-tune to get them back. Today the Kordia channels seem to be missing again so they're on one day and off the next.
Mainland TV to Introduce digital TV channels along side Freeview
Mainland TV is now broadcasting 8 digital TV channels and 2 radio stations from Observatory hill Nelson ( Ch 26 Horizontial polartiy at 25DBW ) and the same 8 channels from the Takaka Hill site - near the main road SH6 summitt ( Ch27 Vertical polarty at 29DBW ).
Mainland has introduced a number of new terrestrial digital TV channels including two of its current TV channels.
Viewers who receive Mainland TV analogue TV channels only need a digital TV or a terrestrial digital TV set top box or a terrestrial digital recorder.
If viewers are not tuned to Mainland they will need one UHF TV antenna mounted vertical polarity pointing half way between Mt Campbell & the Takaka Hill highway summit.
Viewers should receive all the digital TV channels & new digital TV channels providing their antenna has a line of site view to the hills behind Motueka.
If not most viewers can tune to Observatory hill Nelson on digital channel 26 using auto or manual tune.
From 1 March we hope to have all the channels operational.
