If you've got DVB-s/2 tuner cards in your setup then yes the Omnikey will be what you need to read the sky card along with other stuff... if you're planning on keeping the card in the skybox and simply use a video capture card then you'll need someway to capture the output stream of the skybox that does HDCP and an irblaster to change channel.  If you can clear that up, we can give you further specifics as at the moment the post doesn't work for either option :-)

No problem, haven't helped much yet :-) I currently run Sky through an Omnikey and 2 TBS DVB-S/2 cards and all is "Currently" good.  You can achieve the same through the Sky box using a capture card but you'll only ever get one live channel.

Hi Benoire,

If your using oscam and have the time can you please post your config files. I'm going to attempt to set this up tomorrow using a omnikey 3121 for my dad. He is currently using mediaportal for freeview so this should tie in nicely. Out of curiosity how are you getting guide data?

Hi Rick,

Personally I use MediaPortal as the TV option is far better than XBMC's way of displaying the TV Guide.  Using MediaPortal I then use a customised version of tvengine that allows it to grab the guide data directly and also add/delete channels as appropriate, create program groups like the skybox.. Basically it emulates the skybox as best as an open source piece of software can.  The custom version is here: http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/custom-data-grabber-including-sky-uk-channel-epg-grabber.96767/

I didn't start or do most of the work, but while the author is away, a number of us are updating the plugins.  I'm doing the NZ one given I live here... A number of improvemetns still need to be made, i.e. on every scan update it will add a new freeview channel to the tv channel list (but not add it to the actual guide), sometimes it adds channels it shouldn't etc.  My fixed version has fixed all these issues as well as automatically ticking those channels whose channel number is less than 800 but it won't do program groups yet for some reason... I'm still working on that!

My configs are located here:  https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=AABFBFAFB9BFA035!15892&authkey=!AHGJ8nADmP2pHwc&ithint=file%2c7z

Download and have a look.  I have four tuners so I use viewers1 to 4, all you need is ACAMD and MDApi_plus to make it all good!

Chris
