I currently have a killer HTPC setup running Windows 7 but with WMC all but gone from Windows 10, where to from here?

I have a server running Emby which I like and a new Emby theater is in the works, but what other options are there that will work with Win 10 and Emby? Netflix support in Windows 10 is balls, might as well use the smart TV...

Specs as follows:

Asus Maximus VII Gene
Core i7 4770k
16GB Ram
Radeon R9 290x 8GB
1KW Seasonic PSU

Nvidia Shield TV, it runs Android TV OS.

It will run
- Emby for Android TV
- Kodi for Live TV with a HDHomerun networked TV tuner (I use Kodi, Emby, Titan Skin, NextPVR on emby server for TV)
- Netflix built in
- Nvidia Shield Hub games stream from the US over UFB, kids love Lego games
- Nvidia Game Streaming from Computer
- 4K Support
- Side load NZ on demand apps, Skygo, Fanpass, Neon, Lightbox until they get their a%^3 into gear and release Android TV apps.
- Side load other apps, HBO Go, Hulu, BBC iPlayer, ITV, etc
- Plus most other Android Apps if you want, I have WRC+, Sudoko for wife, Pacman 256, Doom 1, 2, 3
- HDMI CEC so I use my TV remote for everything.

16GB model will cost $350 imported, a decent memory card on top maybe another $50. I got a 32GB Lexar 1000x which performs amazingly well.

Kodi takes a little getting use to but once you have spent a little while with it, it is easier and more flexable then Windows MC.

Uninstall Windows 10 if it has not been 30 days since Windows 10 was installed.

Mediaportal.

There has been success stories of porting Windows Media Center to Windows 10:

Yes I have installed the unofficial WMC in my windows 10 and it works great. I have EPG collector installed as well. I can put up a onedrive link to the files as long as that is ok by Freitasm. Although there is an updated version of my copy now, I am not going to change my set up.

In a way, that's the problem with Kodi!

WMC has always been the go-to for a solid, easy to set up and use freeview watching/recording machine, that can also do everything else. No plugins to fiddle with......okay, maybe EPG collector.

It's really nice to see that it is still available in the Win 10 universe - long may it continue!

Note that if you install Media Center on win 10 and update to threshold 2 you will need to reinstall Media Center. Not ideal but does not take too long!

Hi do you know if there is there a setup guide anywhere on how to side load all of those apps? Cheers
