Hi I'm using wmc7 with hvr 2210 and onboard ati graphics. When I try to skip through the ads the picture freezes and seems and takes a while to catch up. All the other channels are fine, just these 2.
Does anyone have an idea why and possible solution?
Thanks.

I've had this before. Its infuriating isn't it!

My system was the same as yours, until I blew up the onboard hdmi socket and got a fanless ati card (HD 5xxx). Then I upgraded to a HD Homerun dual tuner.

It's to do with how the video feed is aggressively compressed in those SD channels. My belief is that they don't send a full image frame each time, most of the time they are just sending what's changed, and on the SD channels they don't send enough of the full frames for your system to fully cope. I think it needs those full frames when you are skipping back and forth.

While I was tinkering around in the early days with multiple reinstalls of my system, sometimes this issue went away, sometimes it was terrible, and I could never work out what was making the difference. When the problem went away I assumed they had improved something at their end.

Somewhere along the line, the issue went away, but I'm sorry I can't tell you what changed it. Both of my changes are worthwhile investments though. I'd say it got better around when I took out the 2210 and went to the HD Homerun - not that it makes any sense, as people here will tell you a transport stream is a transport stream, and it doesn't matter where it comes from.
But then when I put the video card in, I was messing with the video settings, so who knows....it's hard to quickly test each setup.

What I can say is that it's fixable.

Looking at that old stuff, it maybe worth trying a different stream i.e not the Kordia one.

Hi turb, thanks that makes sense. I've been thinking about getting a graphics card. I'll try that first and see how it goes.

Cheers.

Looking at those old threads, I think you should start by trying a different mux. I think there's a way of selecting different frequencies in wmc by doing the channel scan manually, but I can't remember how.
At the time of switching to the Homerun I also pointed my antenna at a different tower. It may be that the signal wmc used was a better mux. Hope that makes sense...
