Hi All,

I’ve got a HTPC using MediaPortal. I’m using the remote that came with the Hauppauge WinTV Nova T 500 HD card. I’ve also got a Pioneer receiver. Unfortunately, when I use the remote for the receiver, this interferes with the HTPC.

Does anyone have the Microsoft media centre remote and a Pioneer receiver? I’m thinking that the Microsoft remote might have a different IR control set that will not overlap with the codes for the Pioneer Receiver, and want to know before a buy the different remote…

Hi I had the same problem with the Hauppauge remote and a Samsung TV and Logitech speakers.  It would pick up the TV and speaker commands and randomly change the channel and things like that.
I bought a MS media centre remote and dont have any problems with it picking up other signals any more.  It also came with two IR blasters so can be used to control other equipment.

I have the same problem with an Onkyo receiver. Frown

No idea if this able to be fixed or not? Wondering if there is a way to change signals on either device oor something.

Cool, thanks for that. This tells me that the Hauppauge and Microsoft remotes are using different codesets. As such, buying the Microsoft remote should solve the problem. When I get the remote, I'll post back to confirm (or dispel) this theory.

Good to know and may end up only way around the problem. Just hoping that when I already have 4 or 5 remotes lying around would rather use those than spend more $ when could spend on other components :)

Cheers for the help anyway

Ok, I've got the Microsoft media remote ($49 from computerlounge inc shipping), and, can confirm that this solves the interference problem. I can now use the receiver remote without interfering with mediaportal.

Another bonus is that you can program the tv controls (tv on, volume up / down) so that you don't need any other remote control.

So - if you want to get freeview via a Hauppauge card, and, you have a Pioneer receiver, I'd recommend the HVR2200 and the Microsoft media centre remote over the WinTV-NOVA-T 500 HD
