Hi Gumdigger,

Not sure where you got that information about the MCE remote - or whether I have understood your question correctly. I have been using an MCE remote with Media Portal for some time now and it works just fine for me - provided you tell MediaPortal (in the client setup) that you are using an MCE remote.

Cheers Mike

You can use any external player, eg. Zoomplayer, VLC, etc for media or Winamp, etc. for music. As you have found out, you need the ability to refocus back to MP. With the MCE remote, you would need to reconfigure your remote using a programme like HIP or Girder.

out of interest, why use external player? Are you experiencing problems with the internal player?

the reason why i want to use external player is because it has 16:9 ratio. i dont why media portal doesnt have 16:9 ratio.

So you have a 16:9 display and you want to fit non-16:9 content to it? Or the orther way around? Arn't you better to use a zoom, stretch or pan/scan ?
