Yea just got a reply back from BDT.
The Microsoft remote is no longer available apparently.
The Hauppauge ones don't look quite as nice and don't have the same features do they?
Can you program the volume control on the Hauppauge to control the TV volume and what about TV power?

Computerlounge i beleive still sell them, i bought mine about a month or so ago from them.
Best store for customer service (esp after sales) btw, they have done quite a few things for me at their cost and loss.

The Hauppauge remote unfortunately does not control your TV Power :(

Logitech Harmony is your best bet after the MS remote...for functionality...
you'd still need a blaster and receiver to control a stb though.

Just bought a Genius Remote 300 which is a MCE clone.  Includes USB receiver and does have learn-able buttons for your TV, AV and AUX.

Some of the buttons on it are very small and hard to read, but it is shiny black and matches the latest AV hardware (if that sort of thing is important to you Wink).

There isn't anything on the wires about this product being discontinued. So I assume it is local/national. If this is accurate; what crap. It's easily the best budget solution -about the first thing Microsoft have priced well for ages: if ever.

Does that also mean the keyboard for WindowsXP MCE is now obselete? Because it doesn't come with a receiver. Wouldn't be much of a loss, the stupid little thumb-stick wasn't their best design.

Shame there isn't anything about the remote on the localised New Zealand site.

I believe Philips made the MCE remote for MS, hopefully they replace it with one of these http://www.remotecontrol.philips.com/index.cfm?id=1336
