Marantz AV8003 Preamplifier and MM8003 Amplifier Combo

Silverstone CW02 Premium HTPC Enclosure:

Apparently Marantz requested Silverstone make an enclosure to match this unit which they did in the CW02. Wouldnt mind that stack in my lounge....

I recently purchased the Cw02 and its an awesome (huge!) htpc case. If only I could afford the rest of the stack :)

HTPC: Silverstone Crown CW02 case | Asus P5Q-L main board | Intel Dual core E8400 3.0GHz CPU | Thermalright Ultra120-Extreme Passive CPU Cooler | Blackgold BTG3540 TV Tuner & Hauppauge PVR-150 MCE Edition | Asus EN9600GT-Silent Passive GPU | 4GB Supertalent DDR2 800 RAM | 5+TB HDD space | LiteOn DH-401S BD/DVD/CD reader | Corsair HX-520w PSU | 1 single Noctua Silent Case fan | Logitech diNovo Bluetooth Media Desktop | Logitech Harmony 785 Universal Remote | Logitech Wireless Rumblepad 2 | Windows 7 Media Center, MediaBrowser & Arcsoft Total Media Theatre

Holy crap. I just checked out the price.

Pitty, a (almost) perfect matched case for my Marantz PS-17 amp.

Haha I thought you were talking about the receiver/amp for a minute cos that aint cheap either

Yeah the price is a bit of a downer but it's really well built and is pretty decent looking too. Its a solid beast, you need to undo 10 hex bolts to open the top of the case... (about the only bummer)

I looked at the HD160 and others but there was always something I didnt like or they were too limited in some way. This was the best case I could find. It is big though, 22.5cm high, 44 deep. I had to remove a part of my cabinet to fit it (which you cant see).

That large size,120mm exhaust and 2 x 90mm intakes mean that I can use a fanless Thermalright 120 ultra extreme cpu cooler and fanless 9600 GT though Wink

Might be worth saving for if it matches your amp and you like the aesthetic appeal cos its a bloody good case if you can fit it

@Asmodeus or other fellow CW02 owners :)

I'm contemplating "puling the trigger" on one of these cases.
Just curious, what determined which colour you went with?

The case was originally modelled after Marantz's HiFi gear.
And looking at their gear, the vast majority of it is black!
Except for the references series, which is silver or gold.

As I'm prolly going to get a Marantz AVR and or Separates later in the yr.
Perhaps it makes sense to also go for the black CW02?

Just curious to know what led you to choose the colour you chose.
Thanks if you can spare the time to add your thoughts!

All the best.

that sure is nice looking kit.  great that its a perfect match too.

i bought the Zalman case pictured below because it was a size match for my onkyo amp. not exactly the same, but better than most of the other options available at the time.

It took me a "LOT" of research (time wasting) to come the conclusion that.
The CW02 is the best case out there, at least for my requirements :)

And this is just the main threads I had "on the boil"...

@Asmodeus if you're still on this forum or other CW02 users...
I'd love to hear your thoughts on post #445622 if you can spare a minute.

Thank-you!

*EDIT*
Damn it, how do you add links in this forum!? I've tried the obvious...

You can't, until you have a certain number the posts under your belt...

Hey bro , I chose silver as it matched the rest of my gear, simple as that.

Its a nice case but like I said, it's big!

Thank for sharing mate, nice little set-up you got going there!
It's size is not an issue at all for me, it's pretty much the only case on the planet that meets all my criteria.
And I've researched obsessively, believe me! Laughing

Problem for me is that I don't yet have any AV gear, and I don't intend to for quite some time.
So should I choose colour based on my plasma or other surrounding furniture/gear?

I'm not sure I buy the whole "it must match the colour of your AV gear" notion.
I think the only way to know which colour is best, is when "everything" is in place in the TV room.
And by then its too late, you've already chosen right or wrong!

Perhaps the more pragmatic direction to take is...
To pick the colour that can most seamlessly transition to the opposite colour if needs be.

Which do you reckon would be easier to pull-off in a slick/pro way:
Changing a silver case to a black (anodized) one, or a black case to silver (aluminium base) one?

You're not a sign writer or panel beater by any chance are you? Laughing

Ha, I don't know where in the world you are posting from, but I wouldn't imagine that you'd get many responses for posts you made between 1am and 6am :-)
