Noticed this on mediaportal forum, thought it may benefit some people, i havn't tried it myself.

I created small package with Audio/Video filter and Subtitles filter for MP (SAF).
It is all in one solution, no need to install PowerDVD and any kind of codecspacks, ffdshow, etc...
You will be able to play almost all standart videofiles+DVD's.

VSFilter.dll v.2.39 v.1.1.604.0 v.1.1.604.0 v.8.0

v.2.00 - Now it automaticly configure filters!
v.2.10 - I found an bug in extraction procedure, it is fixed in ver.2.10!
v.2.20 - PowerDVD decoder added, uninstaler added (run executable again to uninstall)
v.2.21 - Installer now clean old DirectVobSub config, HD resolution fixed, "update" routine added
v.2.22 - Resize bug fixed, subtitles font increased, rename to SAF, added warning about Catalyst drivers

Download ver.2.22:

With this you can play almost all standart video files (HD too - using DXVA - only without subtitles).
Suported codecs:

Designed for MKV files and 1280*720 resolution.

After installation configure your mediaportal video decoding this way:

DVD:DVD navigator is not 100% compatible, but there is no standalone filter solution right now... - ideas are wellcome.

Maybe this can help to somebody.

!!! important !!!

To play HD video with DXVA:

If you have WinXP + ATI, use Catalyst 8.5, or you will see nice BSOD, freezes, etc 8.6-8.8 is not working in WinXP!!!
If you have Vista + Ati, 8.8 is fine.

To add support for RealMedia and Quicktime files into MP:

Install Real Media Alternative for Real Media files.
Install Quicktime Alternative for Quicktime support

This package is designed and configured only for MP, you can see some side efect when using with different software (like WMP,...)

PS: sorry for my english

If this tool helps to somebody, please give me know - i can put some new features. Or maybe all this is waste of time?

I tried them. I lost the MPA decoder configurations in the Directshow Filter Control section & the MPV one lost some of its settings. It worked with H.264 but no visual benefits over PowerDVD or Arcsoft. Didn't complete any further tests on CPU useage, etc.

Reghosted back to image without it installed.
