 Hello to all

I have just purchased the new, Toshiba G50 with the Quad-Core HD processor, from what I can establish the PCI DVB-T/Analog Hybrid card installed is manufactured by Yuan.. the chipset I am unsure of

After searching these forums and the net I am still at a loss as to how to set this up to receive Freeview or even Analog TV

When scanning for both in Vista MCE zero services comes up

My last setup was a Qosmio G25 running MCE 2005 and that (after tweaking the mcetuningoverrides) I had running perfectly

Could someone point me in the right direction? Or enlighten me as to how to get this running in Vista M.C or with GB-PVR

Any assistance or knowledge would be greatly appreciated

The insurmountable difficulties I thought I was having setting this notebook up to view analogue and digital TV, wasn’t entirely as I first thought (my sublime ignorance) more what has turned out to be a confirmed factory fault in the tuner card itself ...

Not the first thing I assumed would be the case in a machine 4 days old

Up to an 8 week turn around for a replacement !!

After tampering with different drivers and hardware settings, I have found that if the FM receiver that’s incorporated into the Yuan hybrid tuner is disabled in the device manager the tuner will pick up analog and digital signals without any problems.

Great all in one solution as an HTPC!

The machine is shipped with an Intel Core duo 2.53 GHz processor 4 gig of ram and an Nvidia Geforce 9600M GT Video card with 512MB DDR3 memory on board and two 320 gig sata drives as well as an eSATA connection for external drives and HDMI out


It also features a Quad Core HD Processor that up-converts standard definition to high def.

I have found that encoding and editing mt2s/AVCHD files seems considerably faster via this chipset

Encoding that takes me 2 hours on a high spec standard machine is cut down to roughly 20 minutes with the Qosmio quite chuffed about that to be honest

It also uses this chipset for gesture control ... a total waste of time ... it works but only just, its novelty wears thin after the first few attempts at using it, it does work but is very slow and clumsy.

All in all bar the problems I have had with the tuner its turning out to be quite a formidable machine
