Hi All

After reading all of the info I can on this an many other forums I think that my 17xxx sky card will not work in my jacar reader?? currently I am getting an unknown card error with newcs which I am assuming this is the common error with the 17 model of the sky card?

I haven't seen it around here at all so if your interested the way to output newCS to file is:

sorry it striped out the syntax below but this is the dbug section in the newcs.xml file
NewCSpwd
simple
internal
all
console,file
newcs.log
init,general

have you had any further luck with this? I've tried varoious combinations to try and get the 17xx card to work with no sucess. No issues with a 45xx card.
Have you got your BoxID in newcs?

I haven't had any success yet but  a going to try a friends 45xxx card this week to make sure my setup is actually working and i'm not trying in vain. does anyone have any friends in sky that could get me a 45xxx card as that is looking like the best option at this stage.. (edit) and no I haven't got my box id in as I figure I haven't gotten far enough to actually need it

So today I tried my friends NZ45xxx card and it worked like a charm.
good read

My NZ17xxx card still fails to work so unless anyone has any ideas the only soultion I can think of is to get a 45 card.

I am using a sunix serial card adaptor but i can confirm that it works with a DSE usb -> serial adaptor also

Are you sure the version you have works with the older cards.. If I remember right the released version only works with the newer cards..

NDS Cam 0.0.5 ? I think is the latest version only works with the later 45 cards. there was an unofficial version which works with the 18 cards.. but I can't find it anymore..

The 2 Cards use quite different command sets

Hi elwesties, sorry to hear it looks like you will need to go to a 45xx card.

As a reference for others, do you mind if I reference this post in my: SETUP: Jaycar Reader... thread? Its a question that gets asked, and you at least have the answer now (unfortunaltely for 17xx card holders).

Cheers, argo.

Great, cheers for that!

I've added a link to this thread as an "addition", under the NewCS section.
