Hi everyone

This is just a quick thread to let you know that MediaPortal 1.2.0rc has been released. I'd like to say a big *thanks* to the Geekzone locals who have tested and reported issues for 1.2.0a and 1.2.0b. If you find any issues with the release candidate then please don't hesitate to report them here. All being well we expect to release MP 1.2.0 final in approximately 2 weeks.

Cheers and enjoy!
mm
Smile

Looking forward to trying this one out.

I am still on MP 1.0.2, which is the primary software on the HTPC.

Runs smooth enough.
Just a word of caution, if you are going to install an extension do it before upgrading to 1.2.0RC because version checking by the installer is preventing said installation until developers update their version info. Wanted to try aMPdroid but I'll just have to wait....

Seems nice indeed. Points I like:

Works nicely with no stutter or other visual imperfections
Recorded tv shows more info about the recordings than the old default skin.
Seems generally a bit snappier.
Guide has a nice touch with a vertical line showing where now is on the guide.
Kids like the throbbing record light...
New NZ channel logos look nice (except TV3)

So, as long as none of those HTPC issues shows up with further watching, looks like a good'un.

Only had to wait a day. The 'wifi remote' extension was updated by the developer within 24 hours and now I can enjoy recorded TV streamed to my Android phone.

Mediaportal is now mature enough for me to replace my single seat htpc with a dedicated server / multi-client setup. Next step is to investigate whether iSky and TVNZondemand can be seamlessly incorporated.

Hey Dingbatt

Keep us posed with your quest for server / multi-client MediaPortal setup. This is something that I too have been playing with and am quite interested to hear how others go.

Also, is there an iPhone version (as if!) of the wifi remote?

I had this up and running with MediaCenter and Remote Potato - worked really well. I too am interested in a version that works with mediaportal now that I have changed.

Hi Blur

Check out iPiMP if you're after something for an iPhone or iPad. As it says in the description, it was designed for the iPhone but now supports smartphones with webkit based browsers.

[Edit: and actually there is CouchPotato too, which is probably an MP equivalent of RemotePotato by the sounds.]

Streaming to my android phone works well for recorded SD programs. I use StreamedMP on the htpc and the info displayed is equivalent to that. HD programs are a different story where they are buffering about every 10 seconds, but I believe that is a limitation of the wifi more than anything else. Haven't got live TV working yet as I can't find a way to select a channel.
Oops this is getting away from the OP, I may have to start a separate thread if people think that would be worthwhile...

I am curious as to what the client is on the Android side.

I just followed what the aMPdroid page in Team-MediaPortal extensions area. Several programs were required to be installed on the server (sorry not able to access the wiki at the moment) but the only client on the phone was aMPdroid app (from market).

Try this plugin. Can't remember if it worked properly with TV on-demand or not. Have since reinstalled my HTPC OS &  MP to latest, but haven't reinstalled the plugin yet. I do remember there were listings for both TV3 & TV1 online sites.

Indeed there are listings for TVNZ and TV3 and they are working for me. You might need to install .FLV support for some programs.
