For those who watched tonight's Target show on TV, check out this lovely offer Snap has made to the 87-year-old man who was shafted by Orcon. Good on you Snap, this is a great gesture.

Some people are complaining / commenting that he can't use a free broadband service with his 10 year old computer.

IMO it would be worth the family buying him even a second hand computer vs the saving of that much free internet eh!

Question: Do bundled modems come preconfigured so somebody like Ron could just plug it in and off they go? If so if it was a wireless modem all he might have done was plug it in and somebody nearby might have noticed an unsecured network and started stealing his broadband. Just a possible reason why it might have showed him using 1gb of data before returning it.

Anyway good on you Snap it's good to be with the good guys.

Looking at the one Ron had on the show it was a single port or 4 port dynalink I think without wireless.

I believe most ISPs send configured devices these days.
