I'm rather annoyed to be honest. I still have my ADSL connection with Telecom and I'm considering keeping it and using it as my primary, and just wait out the 12 month contract with Snap.

I think its different because if the PIR is 10mbit then its a 10/10 connection not a 30/10.

You can't really compare to DSL because with UFB the connection rate is known, whereas with DSL it is negotiated depending on many factors. So when DSL it is marketed as ".. up to DL/UL" it is widely accepted that your maximum speed will be determined in part by the sync rate negotiated.

Had I known the PIR is 10/10, I would have happily stuck with DSL. Would the PIR be same across all UFB providers?

I wonder why there would be a difference between UFB and VDSL on that speedtest.

my comment was kind of tongue-and-cheek, but that appears to be the situation.

it may be a configuration error. i thought people from snap read these forums. it'd be nice to get an answer out of someone.

could be a profile on the bras (terminating equipment at their end: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadband_Remote_Access_Server)

Quite surprised by the lack of response from Snap on here TBH, they usually reply to help resolve people's issues.
Hopefully it's just something has been misconfigured, and isn't an indication of things to come as FTTH spreads further.

Well it may only be on international.

Hi Everyone, most customers on Snap UFB are working well so far - but we agree that there's clearly something wrong with the results we're seeing in this thread, and it should be faster.

We have no PIR or rate-limits on any of our products including UFB, which makes all of the results in this thread faulty, so we'll be treating them as faults.

We'll be in touch with each of the customers here to work through these problems with them.

Please keep us updated...
I've had conduit installed along the street last week and impatiently waiting for UFB (anyone know how much longer typically until I get offered service?)

Want to jump on it as soon as I can, and Snap is high up the list of providers. But this is quite disappointing.

I fully accept not maxing the connection on a single thread (DUH!), but surely with something multi-threaded such as a popular linux distro torrent you should have it very close to max - say 29mbps? And should still be the case for international only data.

I accept that those speed tests may not show the full story (single thread), although there are plenty of people getting higher speeds so their servers are capable of going faster (and you'd think they would seeing that's the whole point of a speed test). And yes obviously you may get a lousy route.

No :(.

I called Snap yesterday, but they said someone would call me back about it. They said this twice two me, once before I created this thread and again yesterday. So far no call backs on either occasions.

I'm somewhat happy to wait, but would like to know if there is something being done.

Maybe just an update on here saying what they think the issue issue is and what is involved to fix it. I would find it quite interesting, and would put me at ease.
