I was reading the fritzbox logs, and every day at around 3am I get....

Clearing Internet connection briefly to prevent the Internet Service Provider from disconnecting you in the immediate future.

And sure enough, the fritzbox ends then restarts my internet connection and I get a new IP address.

This looks like planned activity.  Why does it need to do this?

Also, I've noticed the following message....

"RADAR was detected on channel 56; channel switched automatically because of higher-privileged user."

That is straight out weird, never seen that before. I think my wireless lan is changing radio channels due to a higher priority device in the area.

DFS is required on a number of 5Ghz channels. This is because some overlap with existing weather radar usage.

As for planned disconnects there are a number of options in the Fritz!box that control this.

Hello,

If you login to Internet/Account Information make sure the option of "Maintain permanently (recommended for flat rates)" is enabled and that there is no tick in "Delay disconnection by provider to the period between x -x"

And that should fix your disconnection issue!

Thanks,
TheRalph

5G Wireless has DFS enabled and if it detects a RADAR signal on the frequency you are using it must change channels.

"Australia and New Zealand require DFS capabilities for the 5250 – 5350 MHz and 5470 – 5725 MHz bands. The radio standard AS/NZS 4268 references the use of either EN 301 893 or FCC Part 15 procedures for evalu- ating DFS capabilities. The AS/NZS 4268 standard and the associated frequency allocation (the LIPD Class Licence and GURL) prohibit the use of the 5600 – 5650 MHz sub-band."

Can you change channels on the 5G Wireless?

Thanks, there was a tick in 'delay disconnection'.

Cleared that, and all working well.
