Right now UFB is available to us in Takapuna, but in about six months or so we'll be moving to a new home in a new subdivision in Riverhead. The subdivision itself is being pre-wired for UFB but I don't know if that means it will actually be available to connect to or not - the surrounding areas have no confirmed UFB dates according to the Chorus maps.

I'm looking at getting UFB with Snap now, but I wonder if that will be an issue when we move to the new place and if UFB isn't available yet and we have to go back to ADSL?

I've tried calling them three times today to ask but after being on hold 20 minutes each time I've had to hang up and go do other things.

I believe there is a 12 month contract on a single premise for UFB so I wouldn't do it for just that reason.

You will have a 12 month contract at your premises - this is with your ISP who in turn will have a 12 months contract with Chorus.

I did wonder that, as in is my contract with Snap for 12/24 months regardless of services, or is it for UFB at our existing address for 12/24 months.

You are in luck! I have been told with Snap on multiple occasions, that the contract is with the person and not the premises. This includes UFB, VDSL & ADSL connections with them. You should be able to switch to ADSL or VDSL and carry over the same contract on the new premises.

Do whatever you want to do man.

Changes have been made recently so may not apply retrospectively.

I believe this is correct since the recent changes with Snap and the termination is bound to the customer not the service its self.

Also No contract at $99 install fee, $199 ETF on 12 month contract, $499 ETF on 24 month contract, Only other thing of concern would be that you would be up for connection costs at the new property either way.

Ofcourse as always, Confirm this is correct during signup.

Perpetually undecided.

Hi guys

Recent changes do mean that the contract is tied to the person, and not the property. So for the OP, as long as you take a Snap service at the new address in say 6 months time (of any type, but preferably UFB or VDSL!!) no early termination charges would apply at site 1.

Sorry again about the wait times - I know we've dropped the ball a bit here lately but we've just taken on some more front-line staff today, and actively looking for more given current growth. Getting wait times down to where they were 6 months ago is a real priority.

I'd be happy to arrange for one of the team to give you a call at a time that suits you if you want to sign up - just DM me your details and preferred time.

Cheers
Ralph

Hi Ralph thanks for that, I'm happy to sign up online no drama there.

Sorry if I made it sound like I was complaining about the wait times, I just threw that in there so that the first post wasn't someone telling me to call first instead of posting on here!

Thanks to everyone else for your replies too.
