Hello 

Since last few weeks , I am experiencing extreme slow internet speed with SNAP. My modem is connected to first telephone jack  where wiring enters into my house.

My exchange is around 2.5 Kms away from my house

- If you know your connection is to an exchange, cabinet or conklin

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

 



 

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

45 db attenuation is quite poor and suggests you have 3.3km of cable to the exchange - suggest you get your wiring looked at to try and squeeze out as much as you can.

With sync stats and attenuation like that it's not surprising your speeds are slow.

The first step is to eliminate your internal home wiring. How many other jackpoints do you have?

Get the wiring looked at when you can. I cant remember where but a certain area in Epsom has terrible wiring on the street.
Log a fault with your Snap or get a private contractor to have a look.
