Sorry if this isn't the right forum for this, but I did start noticing this after getting my Fritzbox replaced about a week ago.

I use Chrome as my main browser and since changing the router I noticed some considerable delay with using the omnibox to search for things or when using Google products in general (maps, gmail, Youtube), there would be about a 20-30 second delay for something to load which is unusual since it's usually pretty instant. Going to other websites works fine however, it's just Google's services that are hindered. If I go to Bing or Yahoo and search there, it's instant like Google used to be. I'm on the 30/10 plan and Youtube videos used to stream well at 1080P, now it buffers on anything 720 and up.


It's similar with Firefox and IE as well but not as prominent. Maps seems to working slightly better in  IE and Youtube with Firefox.

But it's just Google services, everything else seems to be business as usual. Ping on BF4 is around the 40's an is showing usual speeds too.


Any suggestions?

- If you know your connection is to an exchange, cabinet or conklin



- If your connection is to a ULL or wholesale service



- If you have done an isolation test as per the link above



Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.



A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

Are you using your ISPs DNS settings, or are you using custom settings?

Just using the ISP DNS. From what I've seen on other forums, it could be an IPv6 issue so I might try disable it to see if it fixes anything.

Also have my work email synced to Outlook through Google Apps Sync and that's having issues too.

Welp, that seemed to do the trick! I disabled IPv6 on the router and now everything is back to normal.

I guess my question now is, what are the cons of having this disabled? Will it make me more vulnerable to anything or make other things worse?

Disabling IPv6 on Snap is the best way to get a better experience when using their services at the moment.

Can't think of anything that should be affected by it being off.
