I got bored waiting for my 2D N5 to update and installed L instead. No regrets so far...

garvani: the only reason i can think of is the nfc stuff 2degrees do with snapper or whoever it is. there must be configuration changes needed for that to happen, as you have to be with 2degree's.

Pretty much. We have to ensure it is compatible for our unique services like Touch2Pay

Thanks for your patience in the meantime.

any ideas how mine received it OTA already?

And here I thought that the Nexus phones got the update the second it came out. :/

A big thank you to 2 degrees for wasting a month of my time fruitlessly searching for my update.
Searching the 2 degrees website and countless forums for the reason behind the lack of update.

Would it kill 2 degrees to post a notifications on their website so that their customers know what is going on.
I would be disappointed to read such a posting but would understand. Now I'm just really annoyed!

Does it really take 2 months to test if Touch2Pay works?

If the touch2pay doesn't work what will they do?
Not allow the update? After all who needs security updates?
Ask Google to change the worldwide update to suit a tiny carrier in a small country with probably no more than 20,000 handsets, so that a hand full of users can use a pay service. I can see that happening.
Surely since Touch2Pay, or tap & Pay as it is called in other countries, is international and Google is a party to the design, is it likely that it won't work?
If I am wrong and Touch2Pay service is their own standard then it is their problem not Googles or mine. If you deviate from standards you get what you deserve.

Putting another carriers SIM in my phone will give me the update almost immediately.

The only question is do I remove the SIM and put the 2 degrees SIM back in!

I bought my Nexus to get the latest update, the minute it is available.
End of story.

3 N5's from 2degrees got the 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 OTA update, 2 on Vodafone and 1 on Telecom

Suspect the delay is if you're on 2degrees, that's a bit dumb as it defeats the purpose of getting a Nexus in the first place if the carrier delays the update...

I use a Nexus 4, bought from 2D but using a VF SIM, got 4.4.4 (in my memory got it then another update within a couple of days) two or three weeks ago, but two people that I know of with 2D Nexus 5 are still waiting.

Nexus software is supposed to be Google's pure android, and not under influence of carriers. People buy them because they get updates as soon as they're pushed by Google. A local carrier delaying these updates is pretty atrocious.

Woah, this is absurd. wtf is 2D thinking.

afaik they're unable to alter the rom?, So they're purely "testing" it to see if it works with their local features?. It's ridiculous that this is even possible.

Someone needs to pass this to some of the tech outlets in the USA, they'll love it. Most of them are always happy to push the fact that Nexus = super fast updates irrelevant of the carrier.

Hi guys

We test any updates to ensure they do not impact the devices performance on our network or customer experience, however we have no control over when these are rolled out.

Thanks for your patience in the meantime.

This makes absolutely no sense then! Why are we still waiting!? The rest of the world has 4.4.3 and 4.4.4, however if you have a 2degrees sim in your N5 you don't get the updates. It was stated earlier by yourself that you expect the update to be released in the next 2 weeks but just now "Unfortunately we don’t get specifics on what is included in software updates for Nexus devices or have any control over when these are rolled out".

If there is no carrier specific updates i don't know why we are being left behind. What does one need to do to speed this process up, going to source a telecom sim to put in my phone and see if it finds updates.
Edit: no luck finding one yet, ejected sim and powered on, still can't find the update.

2DegreesCare: Hi guys

Just to confirm there is no 2degrees customisation and as such we do not support Touch2pay with this handset (it was just mentioned as an example, I'll edit the post).  Unfortunately we don’t get specifics on what is included in software updates for Nexus devices or have any control over when these are rolled out.

How does that work? You've previously stated that 4.4.4 was in testing, now you're saying you have no control over the updates?

3 Nexus 5's from WHS here, 2 on Telecom, the other on VF. All have 4.4.4 now. These carriers don't even officially have this handset yet the updates are rolling out, so 2D must be holding it back in someway, and thus have control?

I bought my Nexus 5 from Google, delivered to my Australian address. It's been stuck on 4.4.2 for a while now.

I just now swapped out my 2D sim for my Optus sim, and magically 4.4.3 has appeared. Now that 4.4.3 is installed, 4.4.4 is available.

I'm not really impressed that 2D is stopping my phone from updating. I can understand it if I bought my phone from 2D, but the only 2D equipment I have is the sim.

There must be something carrier specific about this update.  It even mentions 2degrees.

Finally got bored of waiting for this, popped a VF sim in and 4.4.3 came down straight away.. followed by 4.4.4 after a restart... might have to consider leaving that SIM in if its going to take them this long to test an update!!

Booo 2degrees Booooo!

4.4.4r2 was released a while ago now. Is it only for N5's bought from 2degrees? my N5 bought from Google has 4.4.4 (thanks to another sim), with no sign of r2.
