I have used cyanogenmod in australia successfully.
Anyone comment on whether they are happily using CM on 2degrees?

I am not currently with 2degrees, but I was in the past (moved because work got me a phone and they chose the provider).  When I was with 2degrees, I used CyanogenMod just fine.

The only problems you may have are getting MMS settings right.
