The modem password can be different to your online acc password. The password is displayed as 4 stars in the fritz no matter how long it is.

Factory reset is under - system - back up - factory settings

Did you get online? what made the tech believe you can get online?

I got back online with the fritzbox. But I have not tried again with the genius router, as I do not know the password for certain. when i am more certain of the pw I will try the genius router. Any idea how I can get the password from the fritzbox router? At the minute I just can't afford to be offline for a period.

Also I just noticed that my line rate speed is gone down to 5Mbps from ~9Mbps for downlink, since this change.

If you can't remember the pass you will need to call 2deg, there is no way to pull it off the fritz
