I wonder if anyone has any ideas about this one - I changed from a Nexus 5 to a Nexus 6 just after Christmas, so transferred my 2degrees number to a nano sim. The only problem is that apparently I can't receive calls from Vodafone mobiles.  I only noticed this after a couple of weeks when I realised I hadn't received a couple of txts from my wife's phone. I assumed that somehow I had caller-blocked her, but after checking all settings (and deleting her contact and making a new one) that didn't seem to be the case.

A bit of further testing showed that I was able to send and receive calls to 2degrees or Spark numbers, and although I was able to call or txt Vodafone numbers, the reverse was not true. Just to double-check that it wasn't a caller-blocking issue I checked with a Vodafone number that had never been in my contacts list with the same result - basically txts never arrive, and any phone calls go straight to a voicemail that I never receive.

I called 2degrees a couple of weeks ago and gave them some specifics, including the times of an instance when a Vodafone number had tried to contact me, and a tech rang me back and said that things looked fine on their end and that he was going to get Vodafone to do something (I had originally ported my number across from Vodafone several years ago). I left it a week and checked again today, but the issue is still continuing - I called 2degrees and they said that the notes on my file just said for me to contact Vodafone now if I was still having problems.

So - before I register a problem with Vodafone (which as I'm not a mobile customer of theirs could be a bit tricky), I thought I would see if anyone had any suggestions about what could be causing the problem. The annoying thing is that I will definitely be missing other calls and txts from Vodafone users that I don't know are trying to contact me, and as far as they are concerned their txt/voice message has been left successfully (no "unable to deliver" txts are sent).

As my wife's headed out of town for a few days with my tester Vodafone mobile, I was thinking of picking up a new prepay Vodafone SIM for checking purposes, and maybe a new 2degrees sim and trying to swap to that. Unfortunately I don't have another nano-sim phone to swap my nexus-6 sim into, but I'm pretty sure it's not a device issue as I can't see how my phone could tell what network callers are from.

Get your wife to log a fault with Vodafone saying she can't connect to your number.

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their xDSL broadband network faster. If your still stuck on ADSL or VDSL, why not spend from $150 on a master filter install to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?

If you'd only just ported your number I'd say it sounds exactly like Vodafone has messed up the port - it happens sometimes (to everyone). But it would be strange for it to work fine for a couple of years and *then* be messed up. Might still be worth Vodafone checking though.

I'll try that when she gets back. She'll have to point out that it isn't just calling from her number but a network thing, otherwise the receiving handset/handset's network does seem the most likely cause.

Maybe I should have posted this on the Vodafone forum? Still possible it's a 2degrees issue though.

If you can PM me your number, your wife's number, and some dates & times that she sent you some SMS that didn't arrive, I will check whether they were received by our gateway. If they were not received by our gateway, then the fault is at Vodafone's end. If they were received by our gateway I should be able to see why they didn't arrive. If the problem is at our end then it's probably also responsible for failed calls. However, given that it's only Vodafone you're having problems with, and not also Spark, it seems more likely that the issue will be at Vodafone.

Thanks for that - message sent. Pretty sure it's on Vodafone's side though. Will buy a VF prepay SIM today so I can test and officially have customer status for logging a fault :)

Could you also please send a PM to @johnR with the Vodafone number calling you?

I suggested the same, and to let him know I'd looked at it already.

JohnR has let me know that he has found the problem and fixed it. Thanks everyone for your help - hopefully I haven't missed anything too significant :)
