Disappointed 2degrees, ive bought alot of connections your way from my customer base, mostly business connections but also quite a few residential,  and i have always received decent level of service in the past when logging faults with xDSL, UFB,

I called to log a issue with my brothers ADSL on the weekend, his (already pathetic) ADSL connection is usually approx 7mbit down 1mbit up, has been for years hes lived there

he has a line fault, his sync speed was dropping down to <1.5 down <.5 up etc, i already ruled out the fault on his side by installing a splitter (no change), wiring it straight into the demark, no change, swapping router (no change). the issue is not inside his premises its on his chorus side.

After discussing this with your helpdesk and your help desk agreeing there is a line fault, as they could see the usual sync speeds and then the erratic sync speeds hes been getting recently,

the end solution is get Chorus to switch him from ADSL2 to ADSL1 where he ended up with a 2mbit  down sync speed, as the solution - instead of sending a chorus tech out -  *** then you asking him if hes happy with this solution?? ***

are you kidding? if this is acceptable level of service in your books now, time to start porting away all my customers.

Hey Dan,

That certainly doesn't sound right at all, downgrading to ADSL1 should only ever be done as an absolute last resort in rural areas.

Was it the sync rate dropping, or just the throughput?

Can you please message me the account details and I'll check it out for you (and follow up any incorrect troubleshooting with the helpdesk team leaders)

Thanks,

Ralph ^JOB

Its the DSL sync rate that is massivly dropping, and he is in meadowbank, auckland - not rural

and yes i have logged dozens of ADSL faults for customers over last 10 years and 0 times was the solution to switch to ADSL2 to ADSL1 with a speed under 1/3 of what it used to be for years before hand.

(i dont have any connections that a rural)

i'll take you up on your offer i will PM through his account number and will refrain from throwing my toys out of the crib for now ;)

Hey Ralph, the chrous guy has been out and fixed the issue, now syncing faster than he ever, 7.8 down 800 up. he called a few mins ago

But, he said the connection is still on ADSL1 not ADSL2, can you please check, he was quite sure its still on ADSL1

Ralph got this fixed, Chorus tech resolved the line issue, his broadband is back to what it was originally.

faith in 2degrees restored.
