Hi @2degreescare,

I see that your competition have launched their new $30 unlimited voice & 3GB data plans.  Are you planning to match or beat this offer?

I am a long time 2D customer, but this might be enough to turn me to the dark side.... :/

Count me in the same boat. I've been happy with my $29 1GB plan, but I'm not sure my loyalty extends so far that I can pass up $30 for 3GB.

I'm likely going to switch in the next few weeks - can 2D offer any hints that it might be worth my while to stay put?

For the record - I have no interest in paying more than $30 a month for my mobile, and I'd prefer to spend less than that if possible. Anything new happening in the $19 or $29 space?

I don't see 2degrees matching it for the following reasons:

1) Skinny Direct is "direct only" which is marketing terms for a self managed plan.
2) Skinny does have quite a bit of money backing it from Spark.
3) Skinny have always been cheaper (in general) - for example, their $46 2.5gb/unlimited plan is the same as 2degrees $49 plan, or their $16 plan being the same as 2degrees $19 plan.

Skinny are aiming towards a different market. If you do switch you're getting access to a better network and still excellent service backing it so if you're considering it then I'd recommend it. What have you got to lose with it being prepaid?

I just called them up and asked - I'm not too keen to swap due to having the home broadband through them too (until my 12 month contract ends, then Hello, Bigpipe!), and the CSR ended up giving me 6GB of data as a one off, and put me on a 10% off discount for the life of my plan, I think also because I mentioned that on the website they're offering $10 off on the two higher end plans. Not terrible, certainly enough to waylay me at least until I finish my home broadband term.

That is a very good deal.

I believe the minutes on some of the spark plans my wife is using are AU and NZ minutes. These are NZ only so be weary of that. We wont be changing probably for this reason.

Important to note that 2degrees gives you carryover data, so if you don't use all your data each month, 1GB carryover might over the long run not feel that different to a straight 3GB.

The $30 plan is quite appealing but I tend to agree. Shared data is a good bonus also, no point having large amounts of data if you can't conveniently consume it :P

Call waiting (or lack thereof) is the biggest reason I wouldnt switch.  Voicemail every time you are on the phone - madness

If my Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 worked on Skinny I would be tempted

I'm on a 2D $29 1GB plan and sometimes feel I'm in that space which gets a bit neglected. The prepay offers are almost as good (sometimes better with special offers) and I don't need the extras the more expensive plans offer.

The carryover data is good (minutes is meh - I've got 4000 mins carried over and most of my texting is through FB or Viber these days), and data sharing is useful with my wife and kids but I can live without it.

Data sharing is the only reason why I'm not on prepay - not really worth paying the $10 extra when I think about it.

Our plans offer Carryover data and minutes, Shared data, option to buy a phone on over 24 months interest free, calls & texts to Aussie in the mix, great value top-up data packs like our $99 12GB Zone pack, 10/10/10 roaming rates in Aussie (and on the same frequencies there and most overseas networks), no tie-ins and with Worry-Free data and Spend Control you won't use casual rates and you control what you want to spend each month. :)

I like the price but will probably stick with 2degrees as they offer very useful stuff like landline numbers on mobile, shared data etc....

I am a sucker for cost efficiency in business but I wouldn't necessarily move to save the last few dollars. Sometimes it's better to stay put if it works "devil you know" and all...
