Kopkiwi:

So I had testing done on my line over the last 24 hours or so. Speeds are consistent and around 900Mb, seems the problem is maybe my PC. Can anyone recommend a new network card for a Dell NUC?

From an ISP perspective, 9 times out of 10 UFB speed issues are due to CPE.

Well done 2degrees on continuing to strive to find where the issue was. :)

As for a NIC to be used on a NUC, avoid anything USB based, and keep in mind that a NUC is basically a laptop without a screen. Many laptops have trouble with high speed UFB connections, as the chips in them are low powered compared to those available on full sized desktops. This is from experience dealing with similar situations to the one OP has been in.

If you want to see full test results, look into getting a more powerful desktop computer, IMO. Something with a recent i5 or i7 processor, a (preferably Intel) NIC capable of TCP offloading, connected via PCIE. Also keep in mind that www.speedtest.net is not a static website, and neither are the browsers or flash players it runs on.

OK. So after what Mr Murfy posted yesterday I was shyte scared about doing all the tests only for it to be something stupid at my end. So I went through downloaded every current driver for my NUC, for everything. Uninstalled every driver and reinstalled the new downloaded ones. The Gigabit LAN driver gave me some right hassle installing. Eventually I got it working fine. Now....? Speeds have been great. So yeah...might have been as simple as a driver issue.

On that front given what's been said to me in the last couple days and posted here maybe the NUC is the best thing to use? Can any recommend another small form PC? I don't game, it's purely for movie watching. Full size BD movies with HD audio, needs to actually work well with a wireless keyboard, which the NUC doesn't.

I can't really complain about the speed but, there seems to be a bit of quirkiness in the consistency.  I'm on a 200u/200d plan so, it looks good on paper at least.
