I have a Samsung phone purchased in 2013 and connected to 2 Degrees, which worked perfectly for about 2 years. Since then at random times it drops me off the network - no sending or receiving texts or phone calls, and no internet connection. The phone still shows good coverage (4 or 5 bars) and there is no error message except "failed"  a long time after trying to send a text. This can happen when just sitting at home or at work (central Wellington) or while travelling through the country - there is no discernible pattern.

 

The only way to reconnect is to take the battery out - just switching power off and on again does not fix the problem.

 

Is this a 2 Degrees problem or a problem with the phone?

Sounds like the handset is camping onto another network most likely VodafoneNZ as the signal is much stronger

I had a similar issue with my phone and 2 Degrees.  Random drop offs from the network.  A new SIM fixed it.

Hi Jasperata

 

This could be the SIM being fried or your phone's antenna or other part has had a knock and doesn't want to play ball. First of all double check your settings making sure you have Network mode and selection (2G/3G and 4G) on 'Automatic' and not locked to 2degrees or Vodafone. 

 

If their all ok you may need to get a blank SIM from any 2degrees, Harvey Normans or Warehouse Stationery store and we'll move your number over. If your current one is faulty there's no charge (PM us if you get told otherwise). 

 

If you're still having issues it could be your phone so pop your SIM into another phone and test it to see if you have the same issues. If you do please PM us details -

 

Your number and 4 digit PIN

 

Phone make/model

 

Exact location and date's it's happening - 

 

When the issue started - 

 

2-3 examples of any dropped or missed calls or error messages and where you were at the time.

A new SIM has not fixed the problem. Will now try putting my new SIM into another phone.

I have had 2 people at work complain about the same issue all around Auckland

 

Other users on iPhone are fine
