Since around 15th of December 2017 my baseline ping for League of Legends increased by 12 from 48ms (constant for 2-3 years) to 60ms constant.

I have tried resetting the router and all the basics.

I asked friends and others who are on MyRepublic and are in the same city (Dunedin) to ping the same servers and they only have a 20ms ping to the 3rd hop to the same Their ping is baseline 48ms.

The latency to the is the point of difference from my friends and I.

Can anyone from 2Degrees who isn't too busy look into this? I know we are talking about milliseconds here but it would be nice to have some peace of mind and get to the bottom of why my baseline ping jumped 12ms.

Honestly - don't worry about it. You won't notice a thing during a game and if you do it is a pure placebo as your reaction time is far more than this. I would say working as intended.

Also I see you've got a high ping to your router? Guessing you're doing this over Wireless? If so, don't.

You honestly think 12ms is going to make a difference to game play? As @michaelmurfy says pure placebo and all in the mind

You are right in saying that it's placebo. I guess I just want to see lower numbers.

I'm using a powerline adapter (TP-Link TL-PA9020P AV2000) as using a long ass ethernet cable isn't on the table. Ping to the local 2Degree speedtest servers are only 2-3ms compared to 0-1ms with direct ethernet. Funnily when using ethernet the ping on League is only 1ms lower at 59ms.

On that note, does anyone know why my downloads are always slower than my uploads when using the powerline adapter?

On speed tests, the upload gets to max speed a lot faster (at around 40-50% progress) compared to the download where it maxes out basically at the end.

Swapping the adapters around essentially gives the same results.

Hi @WaterAnimal

This should be ok now. We experienced some instability on the fast path from a supplier over the holiday period so we had preferred a more stable path. The fast path has now been stable and we have moved traffic back to it.

Can you PM us if you're still experiencing latency.

Yup! Latency dropped pretty quickly after my post so thanks for the fast response guys!

Side note: Ping is actually 54ms compared to 50ms-51ms (powerline) before the switch though but i'm completely fine with that.

Thanks again!
