I’m 6 months in my contract, so contract free after 6 months.

If I log into my 2degress it’s showing Prime Video available for $4.49 a month for 6 months, then $8.99 a month after that.

Am I better to wait 6 months to get a year free, or can I take the offer above and resign to get it free after the 6 months?

Cheers.

If I am not mistaken the news article said current 2D customers can call them up and get it for free too.

2degrees has made its first significant move into the internet television space, offering Amazon Prime Video free for a year to new customers who sign up to unlimited broadband plans and to existing unlimited broadband customers who ask for it.

I may go down that path, but the answers in the article looked a bit cagey to me with statements like “there’s some wiggle room”.

Suppose no harm, but as answering calls is a cost to them don’t want to bother them unnecessarily, but then it seems to be the approach they are taking to it.

Edit; The stuff article seems more direct, hmmm wonder how clogged the phone lines are going to get. It may mean existing customers who are not on contract.

From their webpage: "You have 30 days from the date of activation of your eligible broadband plan to activate your Prime Video subscription". So if you're more than 30 days in to your contract, it's not available.

I'd just like to say my 2¢ worth. I choose 2° because they do broadband well, and really well at that. Please don't become a Spark (free lightbox), Vodafone (free netflix / neon) or Vocus (free gifts, slingshot summer shout) can make us pay for stuff we don't want. Nothing is free. I'd rather the price be reduced than getting 'free' stuff, which we all know isn't free.

I think the possibility of price reductions is remote. Fibre is a set monthly fee - $52 per circuit - that every service provider has to pay. Only vodafone can do something different with their cable network as they own it, but it makes no sense to have 2 propositions and confuses everyone.

So all that's left is the quality of their ISP (international bandwidth, domestic and national handoff points, scaled for volume etc) and the differentiators on the side, like bundled netflix or amazon, lightbox or the vodasky box. The floor is defined, from here it's just what people do to stay off it, and what else they can sell to subsidise the cost of internet.

I second this. Always had fast efficient and friendly service from the broadband team. Ever since it was Snap. Mobile has been only ok. Had a few bumps along the road but I like the broadband service.

Am currently on open term. Hit the button on the 2degrees portal to lock in for 12-months, got an email saying it was so, and soon after a Prime invitation. When clicking that 2degrees tells me I'm not eligible and when I take a look I'm still on open-term. The change plan page is just totally broken, saying at the top I'm on gigabit fibre unlimited (or whatever 2d's marketing speak for that is), but 100 MBit/unlimited has the "current plan" indicator on it... Seems like your web guys have a lot of work to do Nick.
