Is it usual to wait 3 days for a port away from 2degrees? Winning provider Vodafone has been good keeping me up to date via Twitter DMs but they keep saying they're waiting on 2degrees to release my number to them. Have tweeted 2degrees about it yesterday morning with no reply in over 24 hours.

 

Previous ports has been done in the order of hours—though I recall none of these had 2degrees as the losing provider.

 

Interestingly, this case is showing the opposite of what I read in the forums—i.e. it's showing VF with proactive support and 2degrees with nothing more than 'Radio Silence'. :(

 

Hoping someone from 2degrees reads this and can find out what's happening. Thanks in advance.

Are you sure Vodafone is telling the whole story? It wouldn't surprise me if Vodafone rep has no visibility and just keep saying "Wait for it..."

Number porting are usually held up by incomplete documentation - missing SIM card number for prepay, missing account number for on-account, missing ID, etc.

Background info: I have a 2degrees on account connection I am wanting to port to Vodafone prepay.

 

Just had conversations with CSRs on both sides.

 

2degrees denied all involvement and refereed me back to Vodafone. Fair enough.

 

The Vodafone CSR told me that 2degrees rejected the port request as I did not supply a SIM number for the prepay account. Problem is the 2degrees connection I am wanting to port is actually on account so I must provide an account number (and not the SIM number). However the complicating factor is that it was a 021 originally ported to 2degrees prepay and then later converted into on account. I am wondering if 2degress incorrectly rejected the port request thinking my SIM is on a prepay connection when it is not?

 

The Vodafone CSR has suggested that it is not possible to port 2degrees On Account to Vodafone Prepay. This is surprising to me as I have done so between other networks. She suggested either (1) port to Vodafone On Acccount or (2) ask 2degrees to convert to prepay then port that.

 

Feeling like it's both sides that can't make sense of their own systems... :(

As I said, the Vodafone CSR wasn't telling you the whole story.

You have to deal with Vodafone only. Go back to store and start the porting again. The system is well tested and it should port from on account to prepay. Someone there provably entered a wrong number somewhere.

Did it online. Will start port again and use my 2degrees "prepay" SIM number and see if that goes through successfully.

Good luck with Voda, you'll see a few posts by their fans on here as of late. 

 

If you're porting from Postpay to Prepay, you provide the account number for the LSP, simple. 

 

That Rep you have with Voda has no idea what they're on about. Porting for Prepay and Postpay is exactly the same in terms of the port process, the only thing that is different is whether you provide SIM or Account number. Rules like "Cant port from postpay to prepay" will be a business rule with that specific provider, in the extremely unlikely event that the rule even exists.
