freitasm: A good point. If you are not hosting anything then CGNAT shouldn't be a problem as there is no incoming connection.

Yes, CGN platform's generally come with default settings on session timeouts and these sometimes need to be tuned for specific services. PSN is one of these services that requires tuning as (wouldn't it be nice if PSN actually supported IPv6 **sigh**) it has a 10 minute keep alive when idle. If the CGN platform is tuned so that sessions on the ports that PSN uses have a timeout larger that 10 minutes then the log out issue goes away.

Then @nickmack should be made aware of this to chase itt and see if that's the case and how it affects people using these services.

Hi All,

The advice given from the Care agent is not consistent with the messaging they have been supplied - Please PM me your details (customer number) and I'll investigate, I will be a few days as I'm on leave at the moment until Friday, however by the looks it's already working. If this isn't the case, send me the details stating it's urgent and I'll escalate to the care team.

Nick.

LGSAM:

I have had fiber with 2 degrees for around 12 months now without issue, last week my sons began complaining of being disconnected from game servers constantly on both PlayStation and Xbox.

After testing and reboots we contacted 2degrees who have set us up on a static IP as a fault finding trial. The person assisting said if this fixed the issue then after the trial period we would be charged for the static if we wanted to keep it. It has now been around 4 hours without any issues.

I dont believe I should have to pay extra for a service which should work and has worked for the last 12 months and previous to that with Spark without needing a static ip. Any thoughts?

Hi there,

Thanks for making this post as we have also been recently noticing disconnections on our end and the game support agent (Riot Games and Steam) suggest it could be an issue with ISP since I have already done basic configurations.... I'm going to follow this post to keep updated. Surely is ruining game experiences especially if you're a pro gamer who plays professional and disconnections = lost game..

I am also experiencing issues with the disconnections. I used to be with Bigpipe with zero issues and moved to 2d due to the deal they were running on gigabit. Immediately regretted this since having connection issues almost from the get go. Since they gave me a static IP = zero issues. But had to argue with the staff for quite some time about this. They seemingly had no idea what the issues were that I was describing.

Hopefully Nick now is aware of this - he's still on holiday this week so let's give him some time.

Hiya @LGSAM , @boosacnoodle and @freitasm

Glad to see your contributions here.

@LGSAM - Yep, I understand how your sons feel. Having bad gaming experience sucks...this problem not only has ruined my gaming experiences but when I try to find games in lobbys it doesnt find any..keeps getting disconnected. I can imagine playing other games like Fortnite which shuld have the same problem as me. I do agree that 2Degrees is helpful, but their customer service call centre is really hard to get hold of...I'm counting on @NickMack on this one since he should understand this condition much more better than the 2D customer service team as @boosacnoodle pointed out where he stated that his experience was difficult with the 2D team since they did not understand his issue...it kind of like speaking to someone who works in 2D department who should know about network connections but apparently does not know anything about it which honestly sucks so I feel for @boosacnoodle 😅 conditions. I'm glad he was able to sort it out by getting the Static IP. Hopefully he got it for free as you @LGSAM said, we shouldn't be paying anything extra for a service which should work and has worked for the last 12 months. I've been with 2D for 2 years now.

@freitasm - No problem. That is what I am praying for now. I've been unable to get in hold with 2D call centre (I assume it must be busy as hell 24/7) so I hope I can rely on @NickMack. He is our only saviour with his expertise skills thats able to understand our condition/needs for the issue.

P.S. I have submitted an email to the 2D team so if I do get anything, I will report back to you guys. Have a wonderful night all.

Hmmm I've just started having problems in the last couple of days, PUBG and AOE2 DE. AOE2 MP was occasionally disconnecting during gameplay, and now it doesn't even stay connected to the multiplayer services. PUBG just exits to desktop intermittently, but it looks like it could be a network exception causing it.

I've already been through stability testing CPU / GPU, checking PSU, firmwares, graphics drivers etc etc., updated lan drivers. All was working well up till very recently, which makes me suspect it could be at ISP level. Also possible it's my NIC, or Router. But static IP test would certainly be a good step to try.

Anyone know how long ago CGNAT came into play, or would it potentially be on a case by case basis?

What games are others having problems with?

I should note that some MP games are working without issue, but each game is going to be different by way of network architecture so it's difficult to say. I had a look at some logs in WireShark and I'm seeing a few cases of TCP Dup Ack, TCP Ack unseen segment, and TCP RST Ack. I'm not TCP expert, but that looks like connections closing unexpectedly, or packets being received out of order / duplicated.

Glad to see another gaming user experiencing this problem.  I've been much done all what you have said in terms on diagnostic and problem still persist. Currently unable to do any gaming since my network won't allow me to find any games... keeps disconnecting me... I can only watch Youtube. Twitch tv is smooth but chat disconnects frequently.

Can agree with you on the static IP too.

@Stacy88 Please stop doing mass mentions - every time you do that it triggers an email to the person you're mentioning.

As per the other thread it is important that you let 2degrees know of the issue so phone their support and log a fault and allow time for the network team to investigate. Also note this is an unofficial support medium, let Nick enjoy his holiday and please go via the official support channels.

K, np. I'm just only doing the mentions in one comment so I don't have keep replying. Either way, starting now I will only reply if it is important.

P.s. I have been calling 2D the entire yesterday as was not able to get hold..no clue how you were able to call them. Calling is definitely easy as you just have to dial and listen but as stated I've been unable to get hold of them. Though, I have emailed them yesterday and got confirmation they have received it.

~5mins of hold time and done... They're not difficult to get hold of which is why I simply don't believe you here.

We don't need another thread on this discussion. As the OP was answered please discuss further if you must in the main thread: https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=85&topicid=255661&page_no=1
