I'm having trouble with a 2G iPhone in the middle of Wellington (Featherston/Lambton area).  The E symbol vanishes only to reappear again a few seconds later.  I have full reception otherwise.

Anyone else experiencing the same thing have any idea?

No worries. It's been doing my head in a bit for the last few days. Haven't had any trouble in the past with a Vodafone SIM in there using GPRS, and using the carrier settings from iPhoneNewZealand.co.nz.

2degrees handsets won't roam onto Vodafone within the Wellington LCA.

Do voice calls drop off also? Could easily just be a deadspot.

No trouble with voice calls, and consistent 5 bar reception.

So your phone has fallen of the EDGE :)

The idea of it flicking to Vodafone (though should not in theory), is one logical theory. Although this should not be happening; I have seen some weird behaviour on fringe areas - where the line between no roam and roam meet.
EG I can connect on 2Degrees and roam on Vodafone in Kumeu, Auckland - a cut over area.

I suggest you try manual select the network & lock it to 2Degrees - this will at least eliminate one theory.

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their xDSL broadband network faster and even more now as they are upgrading their rural Conklins. If your still stuck on ADSL or VDSL, why not spend $195 on a master filter install to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?

Yes, but we are having problems with EDGE, not GPRS.
